Software additions, upgrades, and updates will be sent to your site on Friday night, February 16. This month, you will receive an SBGrid optimized compilation of CNS 1.2 along with updates to several titles. Also, we have licensed AMBER 9.0 for all SBGrid members and will be making it available with this update.
Immediately after receiving the software updates this Friday, you will be using the newest installed versions. If there are any problems, please report them (http://www.sbgrid.org/bugs). You can always switch to an older version of the application while we work on your request—just use ‘sbgrid –n’ for more information. SBGrid Workstation

This month we will begin recommending a new SBGrid Workstation configuration, built around the Intel Core 2 Duo architecture. The new workstation setup utilizes a high-end Intel motherboard, a dual-core Intel processor and 2GB of high-speed memory. The system will also feature an upgraded power supply. Our recommended system continues to include the same NVidia graphics card options and 20" LCD display.
The new configuration will be available for download from our website by the end of this week. Members will be able to purchase this specifically configured machine from the vendor at a special SBGrid price. The previous configuration was successful and purchased by many members. New Consortium Members

Since our last update, several new laboratories have joined the consortium. SBGrid welcomes William Royer of UMass Medical School, Mark Mayer of the National Institutes of Health, and Qing Fan of Columbia University.

February Software Updates

The following Linux branch updates will be made:
GROMACS will now be available for the Linux branch. GROMACS is a versatile, optimized molecular dynamics package. For more information about GROMACS, please visit their website.
An optimized compilation of CNS 1.2: CNS was compiled using Intel's Fortran Compiler 9.1, for both 32-bit and 64-bit OSs. Intel's Fortran Compiler should provide a significant speed improvement over the previous builds, which relied on gfortran.
