Structure Validation of Proteins using REDCAT
Thursday, December 5th at 11:00am EST
Homay Valafar
Associate Professor, Dept of Computer Science and Engineering
University of South Carolina
The utility of residual dipolar couplings (RDCs) has increased precipitously in the recent years.
The utility of this new source of NMR data includes direct structure determination of proteins,
nucleic acids and carbohydrates. RDCs have also been used to deduce the relationship of
sub-units in multi-domain proteins and describe bound ligand geometry. Recently, RDCs have
been utilized in the context of high-throughput structure determination by a number of structural
genomics initiative centers. …

Geneious R7: A bioinformatics platform for biologists
Thursday, October 3rd at 11:00am EST
Christian Olsen
Field Application Scientist
Biomatters, Inc.
Abstract: Geneious R7 is an innovative bioinformatic software platform that allows researchers the command of industry-leading algorithms and applications for their genomic & protein sequence analyses via a single robust desktop program. Scientists, researchers and students can easily query, manage, share, and analyze all of their sequence data intuitively using an email-like user interface. The R7 platform provides tools for next generation sequence analysis, molecular cloning, chromatogram assembly, sequence alignment, and phylogenetics. Geneious R7 provides features …

Spectral Processing Concepts for Biomolecular NMR
Thursday, November 7th at 11:00am EST
Frank Delaglio, Ph.D.
Marketing Manager, NMR Software
Agilent Technologies
Frank will review the concepts of spectral processing which are particularly relevant to biomolecular NMR. This includes graphical explanation of the workings and properties of the Fourier transform, and discussion of companion methods such as Linear Prediction. We also discuss the concepts of Non-Uniform Sampling, and describe approaches for reconstructing such data, including Iterative Soft Thresholding (IST).
Please note that on November 14th Frank will give a second presentation: Introduction to NMR Spectral Processing …
