At Harrison and Chen labs at CLS, SBGrid provides a comprehensive system administration support for all Linux systems. All computers are located on an integrated network segment that integrates structural biology computers at HMS, BCH and DFCI. To reach this network from an external location please ssh to crystal.harvard.edu, and access your local resources from there.

Linux computers are located in the graphics room on the third floor of CLSB. All linux machines at CLSB are configured for Stereo 3D output.

The labs also have access to two GPU workstations located at the Harrison Graphics room.

# E-mail Access

Lab members have access to a Crystal email through Google Apps. If one is not already setup for you, please contact [help@sbgrid.org](mailto:help@sbgrid.org) to request one and CC your PI in the request.

Full and incremental backups of SBGrid file servers are conducted. This includes your home and data directories. In general, backups are kept for three months. If you need a file restored, please send an email to help@sbgrid.org.

All computers are located on an integrated network segment that integrates structural biology computers at HMS, BCH and DFCI. To reach this network from an external location please ssh to **crystal.harvard.edu**, and access your local resources from there.

The Linux computers share authentication and data directories and can be only accessed locally from within the lab. Home directories are located at `/nfs/<lab initials>/<username>`. A comprehensive collections of SBGrid applications is located at the /programs directory. Some systems are configured with Stereo 3D.

In addition, the systems named venus, mercury, and mars have GPUs installed and are used for data processing. These can be accessed remotely as well.

Please note that your home directories are only visible to your labmates and PI by default. Permissions vary depending on the nature of the directory or files in questions. PI’s should discuss file permissions with SBGrid to suit their needs.

The servers are located in a closet on the 3rd floor of CLSB, which is physically managed by BCH IT. In case of an emergency, BCH IT should be notified to allow physical access to the SBGrid support team.

The lattice light sheet microscopy setup consists of a 208 cores compute workstation cluster located at the Warren Alpert Building, where the data is also acquired. This local cluster is connected via 80GB link aggregated fiber connections to the server infrastructure at the CLS building, where the data is stored and later archived to HMS storage.
